Helga Browne-Scarlett
A native of Germany, Helga Browne-Scarlett has been living in the United States for over thirty years. Her artistic expression first found outlet when she painted as a child with her father in the German folk stype know as "Bauernmalerei." After her recent retirement, she picked up her brushes again and now works in watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, and collages.
Helga's paintings and artwork can be found in private collections, as well as public galleries throughout the United States and Europe. Her work can be seen at the Garden Gallery and Local Color in Big Sur, the Lyons Head Gallery in Carmel Valley, Art House in Pacific Grove, and the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation's Gallery on Cannery Row.
Her work is created both at her remote cabin "Heaven Hill" at Wild Cattle Creek in Big Sur and at her home studio, the Scarlett Ranch in Carmel Valley.
Helga's artwork reflects her state of mind. She always paints for enjoyment and is working on new ways to fully express herself. She has recently begun exploring the unique tranquility of bead-working. She uses beads collected from around the world to create the beautiful and colorful necklaces, earrings, and other jewelry for her signature jewelry line: "Must Have" Bead Collection by Scarlett.
Helga is a member of the Mendocino Art Center, the Monterey Museum of Art, the Monterey Bay Artists Equity Fund, the Pacific Grove Art Center, the Central Coast Art Association, and the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation.
