Photo of Judy Riley

Judy first became interested in creating art after she retired and moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 1997. Living in this intensely beautiful area, she was inspired to begin drawing, painting, and creating ceramic art. She and her husband love to travel, and together they began to record their trips in pencil and pen drawings. Sitting side by side, they sketch their private interpretations of the scenes before them, which they then share, critique, and discuss.

The study and exploration of art has been at the center of Judy's life since retirement. Judy is a member of several local artist organizations, including the Central Coast Art Association (CCAA) and the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation (MPAF). She currently displays her paintings in the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation Gallery. She also shows and sells her ceramic pieces at Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) Mud People events. Judy continues to study painting and ceramic art at MPC, the Carmel Foundation, and Carmel Adult Education classes.

In her previous life, Judy earned a BA degree at UC Berkeley in 1967. She lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and worked for the County of San Mateo until she retired in 1992. Judy and her husband are celebrating over twenty happy years together.
