Abstract Paintings
This series of abstract paintings is the manifestation of the outflow of the body's vital energy. Standing quietly before a blank canvas with a basic color scheme in mind, Deborah waits for this energy to arise and direct the movement of brush, palette knife and gel laden paint. Standing back, viewing the initial result, the painting takes on a life of its own, guiding her body/mind on a journey to completion, unfolding its vision through eyes, heart and hand.
Deborah's abstract paintings are informed by a lifetime of studies in design, composition, color, symbolism, and art history. Primary inspirations are the painters Joan Mitchell, Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock.
