Noe Hinojosa
A native of Texas, migrating to Ohio with his family at age 9 to work in agriculture, then, at age 23, departing for Monterey, California, Noe was already well integrated with his artist's soul.
From an early age in Ohio, fascinated with the colors, textures and activities of the rural Ohio landscapes and the colorful workers in the fields, he was driven to express these scenes on canvas in the bright, warm colors of the Mexican folk art palate. Adding enormously to his inspiration, the profound beauty of the Monterey coast and his academic studies of the Mexican muralists of the 1920's and the French Impressionists, he saw the direction of his creative passion take serious form. Today, so many years later, but no less passionate, this gentle visionary artist offers us his unique interpretation of the world around him colored by his world within.
Noe Hinojosa is a Renaissance man of the highest order. His kindness and patient demeanor, devotion to his art and love of nature speak through his work and give us a deep appreciation for what he is able to bring forth on his canvas. He works to express the duality that he sees between artistic creativity and community awareness, and uses his art to educate and as a voice for social change, as well as to inspire.
His work can be seen at MP Art Forum Gallery, 425 Cannery Row, Monterey, California
