Willamina Strupat
Willamina Strupat has been painting for over thirty years. Trained as a traditional painter she attended CSULA, and PCC. She has had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and shown her art in California, Germany and New York. She has been mentored by the Artist Walter Holland (Chatsworth College). Her paintings have garnered many awards and press. Worked as Art Representative for Maimeri Paint, Milan Italy for 3 years.
From the Artist: I am fascinated by nature and especially enjoy the work of the early California Plein Air painters, including Edgar Payne. I look to art to escape reality at times. As many artists I believe plein air artists are the historians of our environment, specifically the coastline as it is constantly changing. I enjoy capturing the beauty of our land with the stroke of a brush and often include figures in my work. Some might say I romanticize the environment, I feel we need to be inspired and feel peace when we experience landscape painting. My love for art came out of my belief that art can be the cushion that helps heal us and relieve pain in life.
