My desire to become an artist began early in life when I studied art in high school and junior college. For practical reasons my college education led to a degree in Occupational Therapy and graduate degrees that prepared me for 47 years as a university. Now that I am retired, I can devote my full attention to developing my desire and skills to become an artist.
For me, art provides a source of stability and a positive inspiration to cope with an unpredictable world. Many of my early paintings were a tribute to human beings participating in daily life. Recently, I have found joy in painting landscapes, animals and abstract compositions.
I paint with acrylics and oils to capture the images before my inspiration fades. My style of painting ranges from classical realism to abstract impressionism. I have been a prolific painter with a studio full completed paintings and “works in progress.” I find it very exhilarating to reach a state of “flow” when painting and to connect with my emotional intelligence rather than my analytical mind. I am currently painting more abstracts and landscapes that capture the beauty of California along the Central Coast.
