For me, art is both a meditation and a celebration.  It is a connection and a delight. It is magic and wonder.  It is a joy to be a member of MPAF Gallery where we share not only space and expenses, but art and friendship and the thrill when someone buys one of the treasures, whether our work or the work of a friend.

​Dear Artist Friends,
Today I received the sad news that Jan Penney Zeigler has passed away. She was a tremendous guardian angel of our gallery and loyal booster of the original Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation. A longtime member of the board, she oversaw membership for many years. Her works, many of them created en Plein Aire in the wilds of Point Lobos and Carmel Highlands and her creative paper cut originals still grace our gallery. Her wit and wisdom helped us through the big transition to become the MP Art Forum. She will be remembered for her frankness, boldness, honesty, generosity, and promotion of the space we call "the gallery." I'll never forget her standing on the gallery porch and calling out like a circus barker to passersby, " You missed the gallery! Come on in!" A one-of-a-kind original in every way. We send our love and condolences to her husband, photographer William Zeigler. She is with us in spirit and forever in our hearts. Adios, dear Jan.
