Lise Aissen

 I grew up on a very beautiful and small island (59 square miles) in the Indian Ocean, literally on the other side of the world from Monterey Bay.  It is fitting that I would end up in this area with its white, sandy beaches, rocks, trees, flowers etc.  These subjects are a large part of my life experiences.
For many years I commuted from Marin County to San Francisco for work crossing the Golden Gate Bridge many times a week.  I love painting the bridge and still cross it a few times a year.

While I have been working mostly with oils recently, I like to experiment with various media - acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, etc. Please  click on this link and visit my personal website www.artbylise.com to see the full range of my work and other general information. The images you see here are a representation of my portfolio. My landscapes and seascapes are mostly painted "en plein air", i.e on location. I try to capture the true colors of nature, mood, atmosphere and spontaneity. Sometimes I finish the painting in the studio.
