Sunee was born in Stockholm, Sweden, earned a B.A. (Education with Art Minor) from San Francisco State University (1960), and a B.F.A. at the Academy of Art, San Francisco (1980). She has studied under the tutelage of Morton Solberg, Sabrina H. Turner, Jane Hofstetter, Joe Price, Jan Kunz, Frank Webb, Jim Torlakson, and others.

Sunee has been a freelance calligrapher and was coordinator of an art center and a Junior High teacher for 15 years. She has been a S.W.A. Judge and an Elderhostel workshop instructor. Sunee belongs to the Society of Western Artists as a Signature Member, the California Watercolor Association, 30-and-1 Artists, the Peninsula Outdoor Painters and Pacific Grove Art Center, the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation (MPAF), the Central Coast Art Association, and Artists Equity Association.

She has exhibited at the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation Gallery on Cannery Row, the Foster City Shell Gallery, the San Francisco Academy of Art Graduate Show, the Washington, D.C. Capitol Arts Program at the Rotunda Gallery, and the Octagon Gallery in Redwood City, California. Sunee has participated in juried competitive and solo shows at the Skyline Gallery Theater, the Twin Pines Manor House Bay Arts, several S.W.A. Annuals, the Hall of Flowers, the San Francisco and The Pacific Grove Art Center (Solo show, Dyke Gallery, 2004), the Carmel Holiday Banners (Ocean Avenue in Carmel), the Carmel Foundation Solo Show, and the Joint Show Sally Griffin Gallery.

Sunee has won Gold at the Monterey County Fair twice; Best of Show and Gold at the 1999 San Mateo County Fair; the Portrait award at the 1999 S.W.A. Annual; and the H.M. Winsor Newton "W.C. Goes on Holiday." At the San Mateo County Fair she has won Gold in 1993 and 1996, Silver in 1994 and 1995, Bronze in 1997, Best of Show and Gold in 2001, and two Silvers in 2001. She has also won 2 firsts at the 2006 Central Coast Bi-annuals. Sunee has also appeared on the TV show, "Thirty-and-One Presents" in Burlingame, CA, in 2004.
